鹿児島市路面電車発祥の地

高麗町交通局跡地

大正元年鹿児島電気鉄道㈱がこの地において路面電車の運行を始めました。その後、鹿児島市が事業を引き継ぎ高麗町を拠点として約90年にわたり市電・市バスの運行を続け市民生活や経済活動を支えてまいりました。
このような実績を後世に伝えるため、ここに記念碑を建立します。

鹿児島市交通局新武之橋変電所

大正元年に路面電車の運行を開始以来、電気を送り続けてきた旧武之橋変電所は、開業当時からの姿を残す数少ない建物であり、歴史的・文化的な勝ちも認められたことから、交通局舎・電車施設の上荒田町移転に合わせて、鉄筋コンクリート造の躯体の外壁に旧変電所の石材を再利用し、建築当時を彷彿とさせる姿で耐震性や機能性等を高めた新変電所として移築・整備いたしました。

Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau New Takenohashi Substation

Having supplied electricity since the tram was introduced in 1912, the former Takenohashi Substation, one of the few original Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau buildins reminding us of how the looked when the service started, is of high historical and cultural value.It was renovated when the bureau and the tram facilities were moved to Uearatacho in ways that preserve the original looks. The body of the buildin is steel and concrete with the outer surface covered by the stonework of the old building. Upgrades include anti-seismic and othe functions wich have been added anew.
