にっぽんさいこのおんせん

和歌山県の田辺市街地と新宮市の間、田辺市本宮町渡瀬の国道311号 渡瀬隧道西側から2kmほど北上した場所にある湯の峰温泉の駐車場隅に設置された案内地図に記されている。

つぼ湯　Tsuboyu Bath

1800年前に発見されたという、日本最古の温泉が湯の峰温泉。93度の源泉が自噴し、その泉質の良さから小栗判官の蘇生物語など多くの伝説が残されています。特に「つぼ湯」は参詣道の一部として世界遺産に登録された小さな公衆浴場です。

Tsuboyu is a tiny hot spring bath located in a rustic cabin on the creek that runs through Yunomine Onsen. It is rsgistered as UNESCO World Heritege and is intimately connected to the Kumano pilgrimage as a sacred site for hot water ablution rites.
